LGBTQ Alphabet Soup

LGBTQ? What do all these letters mean?  Here is a quick break down.

L          Lesbian: a woman who is sexually and romantically attracted to other women.


G         Gay: a person who is sexually and romantically attracted to others of the same sex. Gay can refer to either men or women, however women can classify themselves as lesbians.


B          Bi-Sexual: a person who is sexually and romantically attracted to males and females.


T          Transgender: a person whose gender identity or expression is different from their biological sex at birth. For example, a person who is born with a penis but feels like a woman.


Q         Questioning: a person who is trying to figure out who they are sexually or romantically attracted to.


And here are a few more…
A         Asexual: a person who is not sexually attracted to others.


H         Heterosexual: a person who is sexually and romantically attracted to the opposite sex.


I          Intersex: refers to a person whose body is not easy to identify as male or female. About 1 in 2000 babies has this medical condition.


Don’t like any of these letters? That is fine. You are not required to identify your sexual orientation by any letter.
